This painting is oil over acrylic on canvas, currently unframed and part of the artist's estate.

Chris Gollon was a very sensitive painter of women. In this painting, there is perhaps the hint that the singer has been made or asked to dress in a way that she might not have otherwise have chosen.

In 2012, Chris Gollon's innovative techniques came to the attention of Liquitex, manufacturers of artists' fine art acrylic paints. They began to supply his paints for nothing and invited him to exhibit at their London HQ in a new bespoke gallery space. At this time Chris Gollon also showed his ability in oil painting, but as he liked to paint quickly to get the ideas in his head onto canvas, he preferred acrylic, since it dries faster. In a few paintings if that period, he chose to combine the two media, by painting in oil over acrylic, successfully merging the two techniques.

London-born British artist Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017) was a critically-acclaimed name in European painting, with many solo museum shows and museum acquisitions, including the British Museum. For further details on the recent books published on his work, public commissions, press coverage, visit the artist's page on our website. IAP Fine Art has represented the artist since 1993, and has exclusivity on Gollon's work. We hold the artist's estate since his untimely death in 2017.

A TV documentary is currently being made on Chris's life and work, due to be released in 2024.
