'Job's Wife'
Float mounted on conservation board and framed, this original painting in acrylic on paper was part of Chris Gollon's 2014-2016 national touring exhibition to English cathedrals, 'Incarnation, Mary & Women from the Bible'. In the Bible, we are not even given Job's first wife's name, although she was the first woman to question God's actions. This touring exhibition––focused only on women from the Bible––was groundbreaking, and travelled to the cathedrals of Norwich, Chichester and Durham. This painting is reproduced in the exhibition catalogue, with texts by art historian Tamsin Pickeral and award-winning novelist Sara Maitland.
