Early morning from Charing Cross bridge
This is a large painting worked up from a small study. I wanted to capture the amazing light and high contrasts of tone that are so strong early in the morning. The pale blues seem so delicate compared to the deep greys of the bridge and buildings. I have used a thick impasto brushstroke using Michael Harding paint and a linseed oil medium. I have framed it in a dark grey frame to bring out the architecture.
