Andy Warhol created Shoes 257 in 1980 for his Shoes portfolio, returning to his roots as a commercial illustrator. The screenprint shows an array of different styles of women’s shoes in shades a blue, brown, black, and grey against a solid black background. The work is completely covered in diamond dust, a gift Warhol received from a friend at the factory. Shoes 257 is an homage to the pop artists early career and exemplifies Warhol’s love for all things glamourous.
