'Driftin' Back: Albrecht'
Born in London in 1953, Chris Gollon is a very established and highly-acclaimed name in European painting, with many solo museum shows and museum acquisitions, including the British Museum.
This painting is acrylic on paper from a series of pastiche studies Chris Gollon did for a major work on canvas entitled 'Driftin' Back (after Neil Young)'. The works are partially inspired by Neil Young's recent track 'Driftin' Back' on the Psychedelic Pill album; by reading about the famous dinner at the Hotel Majestic in 1922 where Stravinsky, Joyce, Proust and Picasso all met (with mixed results); and by the history of self-portraiture from Durer to the present day.
