No:11 `Tôtômi Province: Lake Hamana, Kanzan Temple in Horie and the Insasa-Horie Inlet` (Tôtômi, Hamana no umi, Horie Kanzanji, Inasa no Hosoe), from the series Famous Places in the Sixty-odd Provinces (Rokujûyoshû meisho zue). Signed Hiroshige hitsu 広重筆, Publisher; Koshimuraya Heisuke 1853 eigth month, Censors' seals: Kinugasa, Murata, Ox 8 Blockcutter's mark: Hori Take 改印:衣笠、村田、丑八 彫師:彫竹. Kanzan Temple, situated in the mountains between pine trees on the left, was famous for magnificent views in every direction. The village Horie is represented by a few small houses and a few small boats pulled up on the sandy peninsula in Lake Hamana. The censors` seals, in black, can be seen above the signature cartouche, lower-right and the block-cutters seal is in the red cartouche to the left. The date and publishers seal can be seen in black outside the block in the lower-left margin. This print has wonderful colours, fine bokashi with lovely wood grain impression in the water. Excellent colours and good impression, light toning and slight soiling at the edges, remargined on the right side but otherwise good margins.
