Glad Tidings

Glad Tidings by Elizabeth Hayley
500mm x 436mm

Glad Tidings, built in 1897 by James Weir of Arbroath is a fishing vessel registered as AH213. Originally owned by Hugh Smith, she was built as a fast Fifie and operated solely as a sailing vessel until her first engine was installed in 1914 and worked as such until her fishing career ended in 1977. Glad Tidings finally sunk in 2015 due to lack of sustainability funds and neglect. She was then bought by Shipwright John Archer in 2016, her current owner.

Elizabeth Hayley, working closely with Shipwright Archer will be documenting the ships restoration throughout and will be donating 50% of all sales of the screenprint edition “Glad Tidings” to the restoration of this Iconic National Historic Fishing Vessel.
