L7M – About the artist
Luis Martins aka L7M is the Brazilian street artist famed for painting brightly coloured exotic bird murals the world over! Born near Sao Paulo in 1988, Martins developed his artistic skills from a young age. Encouraged to pursue an art career early on by attaining various creative awards, he discovered spray painting at around the age of 13. Over the years he experimented with various other mediums including, china ink, latex, pastel and acrylic. Materials aside, what sets Martins apart is the style he has developed. An ability to mix his beautiful bird painting skills (one of his influences being the infamous ornithological illustrator John James Audubon) with mastery in graffiti spray painting techniques. The result being a unique and profound blend of figurative bird painting meets bright abstract street art – It’s sound a little jarring but it works so well! Alongside his many murals and wall pieces, Martins has exhibited in galleries of stature around the world.
