Homage to Francis Bacon (Study for Head of Isabel Rawsthorne and George Dyer)
Inspired by British Francis Bacon's emotionally-charged imagery, Takashi Murakami creates this set of prints featuring Isabel Rawsthorne, Bacon's life-long friend and fellow artist, and George Dyer, the artist's lover. While Bacon often painted his portraits in a stylized, blurred manner, Murakami interprets the subject matter with his Superflat aesthetic. Not only that he managed to include many jellyfish eyes on both figures, Mr. DOB is also seen on the edge of both prints, connecting the two.
Signed and numbered in ink on the front. Sold in the original Kaikai Kiki packaging
Condition is excellent, with two very minimal soft creases in the bottom right area of the print, not visible in photographs.
