Arty-Fact: Blek Le Rat created a body of work in the early 2000's depicting homeless people – in an effort to raise awareness of the plight of the displaced. Throughout the creation of the project, the irony was clear – people would stop to admire Blek’s work of a homeless man painted on a wall, but would walk past an actual homeless person without paying any mind. Blek’s hope was in “creating a picture and reproducing it all over town [Paris] attracts people’s attention and encourages them to talk about a subject.”
