Illustrating the miracle described in the Gospel of John, Christ is calling out to Lazarus "Come Forth", which will reanimate him and return life to his body. A host of colorful characters crowd around Christ and gasp in awe at Lazarus's return. Rembrandt carefully articulates the surrounding cavernous tomb and includes a picturesque hilly landscape in the distance.
This is an excellent, well inked impression. The delicate drypoint lines are still printing well. Possibly published by Claude Henri Watelet, this is probably an 18th century impression.
