Black Book
Best known for his monochrome word paintings, Christopher Wool (b 1955) is an American artist whose work incorporates and challenges post-conceptual ideas.
Black Book is a perfect example of Wool's application of typography to a visual context. With a jet-black binding, each page is filled with a single word which is spread over multiple lines. Through his bold choice of words, Wool generally seeks to aggravate or entertain, yet here his language conforms to an enigmatic, code-like dictionary.
Item is signed and numbered in black ink on the justification.
