'Study on Paper (VIII) for Gimme Some Wine'
Original painting in acrylic on paper, from the 'Gimme Some Wine' series. This painting features in the new documentary short 'Gimme Some Wine' which was completed in April 2021, and is now destined for film festivals worldwide. A full-length TV documentary is currently being made on Chris Gollon's life and work.
During Chris Gollon's 2-year exercise in artistic boundary crossing with singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy, she wrote a song inspired by his paintings and dedicated to him entitled 'Gimme Some Wine'. It is a song about love and separation and ageing, with lyrics "Gimme some wine/Gimme some wine/If I can't have your time/Gimme some wine". Just before his untimely death, Chris Gollon responded with a series of 23 paintings in response to the song, which were shown at IAP Fine Art in March 2017 with Eleanor McEvoy playing LIVE at the private view evening.
