'Love (II)'
LATEST NEWS: the new documentary 'CHRIS GOLLON: Life in Paint' has its World Premiere at the Barbican Centre, London, on 29th October 2024, featuring Maggi Hambling, Thurston Moore, Eleanor McEvoy, as well as art historians, writers and leading collectors.
Framed in bespoke frame, designed by the artist, and which adds 8" (20cm) to above dimensions. This painting is part of Chris Gollon's LOVE Series (2011-2012), painted during his second Residency at Durham University. During that sojourn, he was able to choose his own subject matter, and chose to look at the many forms of human love, from unrequited to parental love, love between siblings; envy, lost love, and the love that is friendship, or the loss of that love; or as here, romantic love.
London-born British artist Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017) was a very established and critically-acclaimed name in European painting, with many solo museum shows and museum acquisitions, including the British Museum. A feature-length TV documentary is currently being made on his life and work. For further details on the recent books published on his Chris Gollon, public commissions, museum shows, press coverage, visit the artist's official information website: www.chrisgollon.com. IAP Fine Art has exclusivity on Gollon's work, and we help collectors begin or expand their collections, and we also work with museums and cathedrals with regard to exhibitions and acquisitions.
