'Mater Dolorosa'
London-born British artist Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017) was a very established and critically-acclaimed name in European painting, with many solo museum shows and museum acquisitions, including the British Museum.
Edition of 100 silk-screen prints, signed and numbered by Chris Gollon, 2005.
This silk-screen print is also a study for Gollon's highly-acclaimed series 'Fourteen Stations of the Cross', permanently installed in 2008 in the Church of St John on Bethnal Green, a Grade I listed church designed by Sir John Soane, next to the V&A Museum of Childhood in East London. Writing in the Financial Times, Chief Visual Arts Critic Jackie Wullschlager made Gollon's Stations 'Critic's Choice'.
