Chanel 354 is a screenprint by Andy Warhol created for his Ads portfolio in 1985. Warhol’s depiction of the Chanel No. 5 bottle uses minimal colors to illustrate its sleek design, accenting the bottle’s contours and the Chanel label. In the 1980s, Feldman Fine Arts commissioned Andy to create his Ads portfolio. A nod to his early career in advertising, Warhol’s Ads portfolio transforms everyday items into glamorous products and is emblematic of Warhol’s fascination with American consumerism. Andy is famous for creating pop art that bridged the gap between high art and commercial culture, making Ads one of his most iconic portfolios. Both Andy Warhol and the Chanel No. 5 bottle continue to be seen as symbols of consumerism and glamour in America. From a small edition of 190 screenprints, Chanel is one of the more rare Warhol works and highly sought after on the art market.
