'Perro Semihundido, after Goya (X)'
'Perro Semihundido (after Goya)' by Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017), 16" x 12" (41 x 30cm) acrylic on paper, 2016; from a series partially inspired by one of Goya's black paintings, featuring a lonely half-submerged dog, which seems to have more humanity than the people around it. This was a theme Chris returned to many times, painting 13 small works on Khadi paper like this one in 2016, using different dog breeds, in this case a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. A sensitive painter of dogs, his 'Anubis & Charon' is featured in '5,000 Years of the Dog in Art' by Tamsin Pickeral (Merrell, London & New York, 2008).
