The "Disasters of War" by Francisco Goya is a collection of 83 etchings that depict the horrors lived and seen by the artist during the Spanish War of Independence, in between 1810 and 1815. These etchings represent images of the brutal atrocities and horror action committed by both sides during the Napoleonic invasion. These etchings were so polemic and controversial at the time that only two copies were printed in the lifetime of the artist. The first time the series was published was in 1893 (35 years after Goya's death) and it has been 5 editions more after that one, the last is dated from 1937 and was acquired by the Chapman Brothers in 2003.
