Takashi Murakami Flowers have become an icon and are as famous as any other global trademark. They were born from the artists attempt to paint flowers as traditional Nihonga "setsugetsuka" paintings. Takashi Murakami Flowers, as smilie and innocent as they may seem, have a much darker background. According to the artist, they evoke the repression and contradictory emotions of the Japanese society after WWII bombings in their country.
