HOMAGE TO IKB, 1957 F
Offset lithograph with silver on paper. This work belongs to a limited edition of 300 and is hand signed and numbered by Takashi Murakami on the lower right corner. Published by Kaikai Kiki Co., Japan.
Takashi Murakami employs many references on his works. These references can be historic, cultural, social or spiritual. The use of all over monotone color patterns on works, like this deep blue used on Zero One, are a wink to Yves Klein work. The French artist took the monochrome art to another level. Murakami, just like Klein did, uses pink, golden, and of course, blue tones in his series of Flowers & Skulls, giving them another symbolic turn around.
