The photograph is presented inside a black portfolio folder that includes texts by Thomas Ruff and Martin Barnes, Senior Curator of the photography department of the V&A Museum.
Thomas Ruff has always been an avid student of the different photography techniques and the way these can achieve different results. The photographer was astonished by the pictures taken by Tripe and working on them has given him the opportunity to time travel and understand the situation of photography of that time, used mainly as a tool for scientists to document and archive their discoveries.
