We would love to invite you to ‘Are You Next To An Angel?’, a new photographic exhibition for the Marylebone Project Charity, for homeless women and women facing crisis. ‘Are You Next To An Angel?’ is an exhibition by Honey J Walker, photographer and Ambassador for the Marylebone Project. It features photographs of members of the charity’s staff as well as several donors, wearing angel wings on the streets of London and Brighton.
All proceeds of sales from the exhibition, which takes place from 29th November – 6th December, will go to the Marylebone Project, which provides a life changing service. The exhibition was inspired by Walker attending the charity’s Christmas party and hearing the stories of the charity’s staff members. ‘It struck me that everything we do at the charity is so focused on the women we serve, and rightly so, that we forget to recognise how amazing the staff are. They could work anywhere else with less stress and probably more pay, but they choose to work under sometimes very difficult circumstances to help others. In effect the staff are angels.’ That led to her photographing members of the charity’s staff as well as some donors in six-foot angel wings on the streets of London and Brighton. The resulting images show the ‘angels’ surrounded by people who barely look up. ‘We all need angels around us, whether it is the doctor at our bedside, the stranger who picks us up when we tumble or the friend who puts their arms around us when we feel sad,’ says Walker. ‘If we all engaged more, looked up and out instead of down at our screens, smiled, said something nice, did something kind, every day, imagine how many more angels there would be. What a much happier society we could create.’
