A Cecil Sharp House Retrospective

A retrospective featuring a selection of works from our permanent collection alongside pieces from our temporary exhibitions programme of the past 8 years.

This exhibition will showcase art works which have made a special connection to Cecil Sharp House and our archive, taking fresh approaches to folk, including some fun pop cultural references.

The exhibition will run from 15 June - 2 October 2016

Who is Cecil Sharp and What is Cecil Sharp House?

A world-class dedicated folk arts centre, Cecil Sharp House is at the heart of English folk. It's headquarters is in London England.

With a unique history stretching back to 1930, the venue - owned and managed by the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) - is a memorial to the folk music and dance collector Cecil Sharp. Vibrant and diverse, Cecil Sharp House exists to serve its wide and diverse audiences, engaging with art lovers (oft times folk art lovers) through unique and inspiring artistic events, and creative learning.

The iconic Grade II listed building is home to EFDSS and the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, England's national collection of folk music and dance.
