Pop Art was the visual art movement that emerged in the USA and Britain in the 1950’s and 60’s. It brought a sense of optimism during the post war consumer boom and grew alongside the globalization of popular music and youth culture. Artists became influenced by things like supermarket packaging, advertising, hollywood celebrities and pop music. Important pop artists from America included included Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, whilst in Britain it was Sir Peter Blake and David Hockney leading the way. Pop art is still very popular to this day and it is one of the most searched for genres on Global Art Traders.
