The opening work in Anthea’s "The Four Elements" series, "Air Éternel", is grounded in alchemy, where Air is the vital breath, the mediator between heaven and earth, symbolising the flow of ideas, change, and freedom of spirit. At its centre, a butterfly-woman surrenders to an embrace with a silhouette whose identity remains intentionally blurred, a lover, an alter ego, or a shadow self.

The embrace brings two forms together, suggesting they are two sides of the same coin. The writing around the image forms a boundary that holds the scene in place. Gold leaf embellishments reflect the alchemy at play, framing a moment of vulnerability.

"Air Éternel" has a magical, fairytale storybook quality that speaks to transformation, while also offering a more mature view of relationships, how we see others, and how we understand ourselves.
