Arty-Fact: Dans un espace domestique confiné, l’évasion se tourne vers l’intérieur. Le personnage ne cherche pas à quitter la pièce, mais à se libérer du poids du quotidien. Comme une prisonnière utilisant un drap, elle transforme un objet trivial en fil d’Ariane. Cela devient une issue, faite avec ce qui est à portée de main. Le papier toilette perd sa fonction et devient une ligne de vie, tirant le corps loin de la routine et de la gravité du monde.

L’œuvre reflète une condition plus large. Elle montre à quel point les gens sont facilement ignorés, comment la proximité ne garantit pas la reconnaissance. Elle appelle à un changement de perception, à voir les autres avant qu’il ne soit trop tard, faisant écho au décès silencieux d’un homme sans-abri mort il y a quelques jours à côté d’une des fresques d’Anthea dans une station de métro à Bruxelles.

À la maison, la vulnérabilité est contenue. À l’extérieur, elle est exposée et souvent niée. L’œuvre tient ces deux réalités à la fois, soulignant que la dignité ne devrait pas dépendre des circonstances.

Un tiers des bénéfices (33 %) de cette édition sera reversé à L’Ilot, une ONG basée à Bruxelles qui œuvre pour la réinsertion des personnes sans-abri, avec une attention particulière portée aux femmes, qui sont systématiquement ciblées par la violence et le viol dans la rue. La dignité commence par un toit, la sécurité et la vie privée.

Within a confined domestic space, escape turns inward. The character is not trying to leave the room, but to break from the weight of the everyday. Like a prisoner using a sheet, they turn a trivial object into an Ariadne’s thread. It becomes a way out, made from what is at hand. Toilet paper loses its function and becomes a lifeline, pulling the body away from routine and the gravity of the world.

The work reflects a broader condition. It speaks to how easily people are overlooked, how proximity does not guarantee recognition. It asks for a basic shift in perception, to see others before it is too late, echoing the silent passing of a homeless man who died just days ago beside one of Anthea’s murals in a Brussels metro station.

At home, vulnerability is contained. Outside, it is exposed and often denied. The work holds both realities at once, pointing to dignity as something that should not depend on circumstance.

One-third of the profits (33%) from this edition will be donated to L’Ilot, a Brussels-based NGO working for the reintegration of people experiencing homelessness, with a specific focus on women, who are systematically targeted for violence and rape on the streets. Dignity starts with a roof, safety, and privacy.
